Thinking about Contraceptives?
There are several types of contraception to choose from. You can decide which one, or which combination is right for you.
There are two main types of contraception: hormonal contraceptives and barrier methods.
Hormonal contraceptives
These include the pill, the implant, some types of the coil, the injection and the patch. They work by releasing hormones into a woman’s body that make it more difficult to get pregnant. These methods do not stop you from getting sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Barrier methods
These include the male condom, the female condom and the diaphragm. They work by stopping the sperm getting into the womb. The male and female condom protect you from STIs..
